Turkish Vans are an ancient breed with deep roots in Armenian history and originated from the Lake Van area which is currently included in the geographic boundaries of Turkey. They are an extremely intelligent breed with a reknowned love of water, perhaps due to their natural historical habitat with their primary food being herring!
